The purpose of 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace & 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis is to provide nationally recognised training for individuals who have responsibility for others in the workplace (adults and/or children) who have been diagnosed as being at risk of Asthma and/or anaphylaxis. 

Graduates of this course will be able to identify and provide a first aid response to asthma and anaphylaxis, develop strategies to prevent exposure to known allergens and triggers and minimize risks related to asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies. The course (22578VIC) has been developed to meet these requirements:

  • Ministerial Order 706 – Anaphylaxis Management in Victorian Schools
  • Children’s Services Regulations 2020 (Victoria)
  • Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011

Course Prerequisition

There are no prerequisites for 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace & 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, any CPR component involving adult manikins must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.

Course Details:

The face-to-face training is 3 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of the 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace & 22578VIC Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis course. Students are required to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the course commencement.

Pre course delivery is required. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course. Once completed, all students will receive a First Aid manual.
