Focus on children — for childcare and education staff, parents and caregivers. Includes asthma & anaphylaxis.
Book NowOnline pre-course training is required (~2.5 hours), saveable and finished any time before the course.
The face-to-face training is 8 hours covering theory and practical skills, with an assessment to pass.
Fully accredited training with a particular focus on dealing with children — relevant for all childcare and education sector staff, parents and caregivers. Provides skills to respond to infants, children and adults. Includes First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training required for compliance under the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulation (2011).
Training and assessment are done on behalf of ABC First Aid, RTO 3399.
Learning Objectives
Followed DRSABCD in line with ARC guidelines
- At least 2 minutes single-rescuer CPR on an adult manikin on the floor
- At least 2 minutes single-rescuer CPR on a child manikin on the floor
- At least 2 minutes single-rescuer CPR on an infant manikin on a firm surface
- Responded to regurgitation or vomiting; managed the unconscious breathing casualty; AED prompts
Responded to at least three simulated scenarios involving infants and children
- Visual and verbal assessment of the casualty
- Safe manual handling techniques
- Post-incident debrief and evaluation
- Accurate verbal and written report
- Hazard assessment and strategies to minimise risk
Prerequisites
No prerequisites. Minimum age 14. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early.
Important: To issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.
Clothing: Wear comfortable casual clothing — the practical demonstrations may involve bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.
