Course Overview

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Certificate validity: The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of completion. Certificates are issued by ABC First Aid RTO 3399, subject to successful completion of all course requirements and following internal processing.

Course details:

Online pre course training is required. The pre-learning takes approx. 1hour to complete and consists of a First Aid course manual to assist students with answering a series of multiple-choice questions. Answers can be saved and finished any time prior to the course commencement.

The face-to-face training is 4 hours and covers both theory and practical aspects of CPR Training. During the face-to face training students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course.

This course provides participants who may have limited understanding of CPR with the knowledge and skills required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

CPR skills should be updated annually, and it is recommended for all who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Learning Objectives

The CPR course provides appropriate training for anyone who may require CPR training, as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This comprehensive course training comprises of practical and theory-based training.

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined below. There must be evidence that the candidate has completed the following tasks in line with state/territory regulations, first aid codes of practice, Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and workplace procedures:

Responded to at least one simulated first aid scenario contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting, including:

Course Prerequisition

There are no pre-requisites for this CPR course. Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance. (Some exceptions can apply)

Important note: In order to issue an accredited certificate, CPR must be performed on the floor with no exemptions.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.
